Loving all this college talk.
It took me 10 years (really the last 5 because I was sick first 5 of my college age years) to realize what I need to do in school, and want to do.
I’ve been back and forth a million freaking times to 1. Appease my parents 2. Appease society and what other people think, and 3. Discredit myself.
Here’s the thing: SP makes a good point. With anything, if it’s something you love/dream about it, oh it’ll work itself out in the end as far as getting it done! For sure!
I’ve been through a million majors and schools to only come back to my dream major: a philosophy degree. In which nearly everyone is saying “don’t do that degree. There’s no jobs for it”. Well I had to plan out a loose sense of what I need to do with the degree in order to counteract what people thought. I have a couple of plans. Both of which I think are easy to obtain in regards to doing what I dream of. One being formulating the degree to learn what I need to learn in order to become what I want, a writer.
I been telling people I “believe” but, deep down I KNOW philosophy will help me write better in so many ways imaginable. Man... and my writing is philosophy based and infused. That’s my dream major. Deep down if i don’t go after that I will be so darn upset. I can see myself on my deathbed having the regret of not doing my dream major. Weird I know for such a degree that is considered useless.
Another thought was double majoring. Now I absolutely love school so this is no issue for me as far as doing classes.
