Yep, what liz said. Play with him throughout the day...say about 3 times/day for 5 minutes each time. Get him up and moving - not so much that he's exhausted, but just enough so that he's tired at night. All of my cats have loved a mylar crinkle ball (preferably a bright color) tied to a string. I play with them so they can chase it, jump for it, etc. (Only use a string toy while you're there, though. Kittens will eat string - not good.)

Get him to be more active in general while you're awake.

Also, he's lonely, poor little dude He sleeps all day then wants his best bud up with him at night. If he had another kitten or cat to romp with, they'd be doing their thing while you sleep.

Last idea: Show him the Cool Insomnia Club thread. That way, he'll have friends to chat with when he's awake at night
