My ex-husband has such a detachment to our 3 girls that I had never experienced the gratitude that comes with seeing that loving fatherly side of him. He has never been able to put their needs and feelings before his own and even went so far during our divorce to cry in front of them one day when I picked them up after their visit like it was tearing him up to separate again which in turn made them cry- only to later admit that he did this to hurt me. There are many other sickening displays of selfishness that I won't bother you with but reading this post jumped out at me and I had to tell you to please appreciate what you have. I would've given anything to see these qualities in my ex and because of the lack of them my daughters have suffered. A lot. I have all respect for all the great dads out there because living the on the opposite end of a truly loving father puts both the kids and the spouse in a very lonely place.
