So I had to be in therapy for a little over a year to figure out I've got alexithymia, long-lasting depression, binge-eating disorder and a whole range of other things. Turns out, I've grown up in a broken home where my Dad was an alcoholic, authoritarian control freak with sociopathic tendencies and my Mom was a toxic narcissist.
It's tough. If there's anyone out there who fits the same shoes, I hear you. If you need to talk to a buddy, I'll gladly throw out a helping hand
!
So I recommend reading
Running on Empty: Overcoming Your Childhood Emotional Neglect by Dr. Jonice Webb and
Toxic Parents: Overcoming Their Hurtful Legacy and Reclaiming Your Life by Dr. Susan Ford. Whether you're someone coping with these issues or are a parent yourself and don't want to repeat the same mistakes, this book
TLDR: Check out those books and leave a comment if you've got anything interesting to say about childhood emotional neglect.
