I had a roux-n-y gastric bypass in 2007. I lost 127lbs and have kept all but about 10lbs off all this time. Yet, it’s frustrating to know I worked hard and then see what my abdomen looks like. Aside from all the TMI issues with excess skin, it makes me feel self conscious and there is nothing I can do about it. I am very lucky because I do not look like I had gastric bypass, but my belly.... oh man is it disappointing. It makes me feel ugly. I feel like it makes me look old. I had a consult Once years ago and I think the surgeon said I had about 10-15lbs of excess skin. It hurts my back among other things. It makes exercise difficult. It’s almost like I feel that it’s not fair! I didn’t see GP as a solution, I knew it was a tool. I follow and eating plan and take my vitamins. I’m active. I’m lively and have a good life. It’s very defeating to look at yourself knowing you played by all the rules and you don’t get to appreciate all the results. I know 5 women that all had either the gastric sleeve or gastric bypass and all of them have gained all the weight back and some gained more than their original weight. I’m not condemning these women I just know that my dr told me what I had to do and I did it. I guess I’m wondering if anyone has had plastic surgery or a consult for something like this ? All thoughts and comments are welcome.
