Another tiring day. My student was fine until after lunch and then he flipped out because he lost his chrome book for refusing to follow instructions. Cue cursing, running the halls, splashing hand sanitizer everywhere, setting off all the door alarms, culminating in eloping and throwing cones at people in the parking lot. The handle with care specialist told me to go inside while he was having his tantrum outside as I had been there all day and was probably just aggravating him (which I understand). Plus there were about ten people out there trying to talk him down, so there was no reason for me to be there too. She told me just to go in and start documenting everything, which I was grateful for. She said later that she’s probably suspending him tomorrow. He was so unsafe today that he made the rest of the building unsafe as well. Just splashing the hand sanitizer on the linoleum floor is a problem as it makes it so slippery. He needs a day to collect himself.

I will miss him though. I’m still trying to figure out the best approach. I think right now the less I say the better. I still have to follow him to make sure he doesn’t run out, but if I just offer to talk once and let him know I’m there, there’s no reason to keep harping on it. It’s also giving him negative attention. As long as he’s not creating unsafe or disruptive situations, I’m just not going to say a word. See if that helps.

I’ve got to go shopping tomorrow. I’ve got to get my son some food for lunches. I’m trying to stay away from processed food but my son doesn’t like anything! Right now he wants chicken patties, hot dogs, ham sandwiches, and frozen chicken pot pies. I’m going to show him some options and see what he picks.
