My guy is 13-15 ( he’s a rescue so exact age is unknown) and loves to play. His favorite is hair bands, small fuzzy mice and feathers. He spends lots of time watching out the windows and knows, birdie, bunny and squirrel means go look out the window. He likes routines and at 5 he wants dinner. I think it just depends on the cat. Some play more than others.

He’s very particular about visitors. Kids are not to be trusted and he hides. Other people he’ll judge on a person by person biases. In his old age he’s starting to mellow about kids, he let my 3 yr old granddaughter give him a treat and pet him.
