I don't know if this really counts. But for me doing breathing exercises to calm anxiety just has always seemed to make me feel more anxious rather than less. When something has triggered my anxiety what is of most help to me is physical activity. Nowadays mostly I just go for a walk (even if it's just walking around the house.) Years ago, when my living situation was such that I could do it, I used to chop wood!
