Stacy, sometimes this happens.
I've been cutting for nearly 18 years and I can say that there have been times when the cutting didn't help me at all. I think that's true of any coping skill.
Have you tried doing others things besides cutting? I know it's really easy to cut--almost second nature to us--but I just realized tonight that just getting up and doing something physical has the same effect on me as cutting...maybe it's worth a shot?
