I restored it to a still earlier point and chat works... but up popped the java update and I told it later. Could it be the latest update from Java that caused the problems? Anyone else have issues with it, or should I just go ahead and update java again. (I can always restore again eh?)

Still don't know what the issue is. I'm back on IE through the restore...
