I am originally from the US, but haven't lived there for ages. My husband and I don't usually do anything for Thanksgiving. We tried one year, but the typical Thanksgiving food is kind of heavy and to hot for the weather here in November. Christmas we usually do just the two of us. My family doesn't live close and my husband doesn't have a good relationship with his biological family. Our friends celebrate with their families, typically, so we're on our own. Where we used to live we'd normally have neighbor friends over for a barbecue for New Year's eve. However, even if Covid weren't an issue, it couldn't really work for us to go there or for them to come here since it would be a situation where we or them would have to stay overnight. We have dogs, as do they, and it's a long time to leave the dogs alone. So, I guess it's just the two of us again. It's pretty much been like that since Covid started here.
