My friend lost her cat today. I was at her house when the vet called to let her know the surgery wasn't successful.
The really horrible thing about it all is, that my friend was the one accidently running over her own cat driving out from the driveway by their house.
He had a dislocated hip and they fixed that... a wound on one of the corneas... then sent him home since they couldn't see any internal damage on the scan.
Early this morning Rocky got sooo sick and they took him back to the vets. They then discovered that the urine bladder was injured and urine had gone out into the blood. They tried to perform a surgery on him as I was visiting my friend... but nothing could be done.
My friend has OCD just like I do. Her worst obsession has been about accidently running over one of her cats, another animal or a human being. She has had to drive back and look to see that didn't happen... when she's been at her worst. She went through CBT this fall and has gotten much better about many of her obsessions and compulsions. Now I'm so worried she might regress because of this very triggering event; running over her own precious darling cat and him dying.
Any suggestions as to how to help her deal with this?
I begged her to call her psychologist... who she's not seeing anymore... to help her work with this trauma.
I also told her to call me when ever she feels the need to talk or even just cry on the phone.
Please send your good thoughts and vibes to my friend.
