So I went to the dentist about my cracked tooth. Good news is I won't need a root canal. But the doctor says my back gums need a "deep cleaning".

Now I think this is a scam. But I have now had to leave about 10 dentists because they all wanted to do this "deep cleaning"

In fact this dentist is going to do the cleaning combined with work for the tooth with a chip in it.

That concerns me.

It says that's she knows I am going to try to get out of the cleaning and that is why she has put the two together.

But I don't feel like I can leave again -- two reasons:
1. Every dentist immediately starts harping on this issue -- even though I don't think it is real. I have 3 teeth / gums with mild pockets.
2. This dentist look about 97 X-rays and I don't want to get my head irradiated again. (and you know how dentists are.)

Has anyone had this "deep cleaning" -- I have heard it takes bout 2 hours and at the end your mouth is a bloody mess and you have to take antibiotics. I feel like that is an unnecessary use of antibiotics. It is also uncertain how many times you might have it or how long it will take to heal.

But if I do hear that this deep cleaning is a scam... I will leave and get the tooth done elsewhere.
