You could even do it with your kid and then eat the results (dehydrated marshmallows are all the rage on some of the dehydrating forums). Science, food, fun and you can't really screw it up. What if you tried brewing your own beer? That is an intense hobby with a lot of people who like talking about it and experimenting with it. I even saw an rv show where a couple was buying an rv to take around visiting craft breweries all across the us.

Thanks, SD. You can dehydrate marshmallows? Well, I have learned something today... H actually did some beer brewing and has all the equipment--we even have a kegerator (minifridge converted so that it can hold two tiny kegs of beer with taps). He hasn't been too successful in his attempts lately, so maybe I could try? I also like pickled things and have supplies to make pickled...whatever, but haven't gotten around to making them yet (like months after I got the supplies). Maybe I could try actually doing that?
I was also talking to T recently about how I had fond memories of baking cookies with my mom, like snickerdoodles, sugar cookies (which I'd then decorate), etc. So maybe could try that with D?
Cooking is something I've been trying to get into more, too, and Dr. T is very on board with that. As it's something creative but also practical, like we all need to eat. And H tends to like what I create (even if it's just from my head vs. an actual recipe). So I think I need to be continuing to do that.
Much of it is having actual stuff on the calendar so to speak, but no reason I couldn't put, say, "make risotto" on Thursday or "bake cookies" on Friday.
