I think the focus on Christmas is absolutely ridiculous. If people know a lockdown is coming after they're just going to gather more while it's still possible. They're basically creating another big wave of infections over the Christmas period and THEN going into a stricter lockdown.
As someone who already can't go home for Christmas, this is really upsetting Just let people celebrate Christmas with their own household or maybe from 1 other if they're alone. FFS. People who live with family are lucky they still get to spend it together.
I will be spending Christmas alone and then facing lockdown afterwards.

I know. It's frustrating. We have the 3 household bubble opportunity for 5 day window over Christmas here..... then possibly a resulting rise in January. I just hope not.
The rationale behind I understand was realising people were going to do it in large numbers anyway so better to at least set limits and guidance rather than free for all.
As a family we all agreed we aren't going to see each other, too many elderly and vulnerable in our family. Not worth any risk. Especially not now we are so close to vaccinations.
I have just been reading about Merkel and she seems to be putting the case forward for tighter restrictions- does she have a lot of opposition to this?
