Cervidil is the brand name for prostoglandin. That's what the doctor is suggesting as the first step. I really don't want the pitocin - there isn't much turning back afterwards, and I really don't want to rush things and be stuck with a c-section if everything ends up happening EXCEPT dilation. The prostoglandin/cervidil is the synthetic version of the hormone that is in semen... if I could get my husband to actually HAVE SEX WITH ME then I suppose I wouldn't even necessarily need it. What got the baby in is supposed to get the baby out, so they say. But nevertheless, it's not guaranteed to "work" and I haven't read of ANY risks in trying it, so we decided to see if we have any luck with that before we make any final decisions about the pitocin (which I'm still leaning towards 'no' about).
Thanks both
Today is my due date - how freaky...
