What I bolded: I don't know if this gives you any comfort but I like this quote by Jung "The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed." to me it says that it can't be like we were never anything to each other; but instead we both were changed because of what we were to each other. not sure i'm making sense.
