Of course getting paid is part of why people work, but it's not enough to continue working, for example, if the workplace is toxic and demeaning. I wasn't getting paid much in my last job and the job was so tedious, but I was happy, and put all my effort to do the job despite that fact.

I am currently changing fields and learning new technologies that are more widely used in the industry, after years of failed attempts in my field of study.
