I definitely think that it's important to study the brain and try to identify what has/is happening when someone is struggling. Most who develop ptsd constantly ask the question "why can't I just like I used to". I think that by seeing how the brain is affected as is shared in this article, they can see if there is anything that can be done to help restore these affected areas of the brain.

Interesting how language is affected as I remember when I joined PC it used to take me so long to create a post. I was struggling badly and I did not understand why I was so crippled. I also remember how each day I had to check my statistics to remember what I had posted the day before. Also, by reading over what I had posted I could see how I was saying something and then I would begin to repeat what I had already shared.

After reading this I can better understand how I was having flashbacks, both visual and emotional and it affected the language area of my brain. When certain flashbacks happen I can't talk. I also often created very long posts too. Often when I did that I would lose track of time too. What I had not realized is that I was trying to use that area of my brain to SAVE IT.

I think that what is being realized through seeing affected areas of the brain, is it can lead to a better understanding of how someone is within themselves disconnected in a way that person cannot seem to articulate and it's very frustrating to experience a challenge like this and not be able to articulate it.
