Lost, I ordered my boys’ ornaments in October and didn’t bother to open them until we decorated the tree a little over a week ago. One was damaged. I contacted the seller, sent a photo, and asked if they’d be willing to send a replacement. They agreed to send me another one. So it doesn’t hurt to ask—the worst that could happen is that they say no and you are still in the pickle you’re already in.

It probably won’t be resolved before Christmas Day, but if 2020 has taught us anything, it’s how to flex, right? You could give something else now and save the book for a bday or “just because” surprise. Is the book unreadable? Or just not gift-perfect? Another option if it’s readable is to explain and ask if she wants to wait for a replacement.

Or just wrap it up, shrug and say “2020. Whaddaya gonna do?”
