I've been on Venlafaxine for close to 25 years and it worked great for pulling me out of a severe depressive episode and is mostly still working. Worst side effects are problems regulating my body temperature - I over heat.
I'm also on celexa long term. It seems to be working, but it does have a side effect of causing heart problems, so may not be your first choice.
