I would say that if you have goals that are realistic for yourself (goals that you will be able to achieve) regarding your mental health, and you are achieving them, then you are getting better. For example, you could have a goal of: "I want to feel better more often and be in a more positive frame of mind more often." You may need to have a way to measure your progress. You could start a mood journal and after a month or two, look and see how you felt those past months. If you noticed you had more good days than bad days, you've accomplished your goal. That's just an example, but again, I think that if you want to see if you're getting better, look at what it is that you want (your goals) to happen with your mental health, and then look and see if that's being accomplished. If not, try not to beat yourself up or get upset with yourself. Sometimes this stuff takes time and effort. What do you want for yourself and how do you want to feel?
