I was on it (10 mg) for five years before I developed tardive dyskinesia. I had facial twitches that I couldn't control. I started tapering off immediately, even though the medication had been really helpful with my depression and anxiety. It's been six months and I've been twitch-free for four weeks now, so I hope they're gone for good. Fingers crossed.

I would definitely work with your psychiatrist to taper off the medication because the risk of the tardive dyskinesia becoming permanent is much higher if you stay on the medication.

Unfortunately, once you've developed t.d., almost all of the antipsychotic drugs are off-limits for you because they'll all cause the t.d. to recur or get worse. At least that's what my psychiatrist said to me.
