We've been driving through Maryland for a while now. No offense to Maryland, but I wish we reached Pennsylvania already. Soon. We plan to stay in Gettysburg. Tomorrow we'll do a little tourism there, then head home, which is only a little over 2 hours drive from there.
It's been odd noticing my husband's occasional struggles understanding the people we've encountered during our road trip. He is absolutely fluent in English, but has trouble with accents from outside the NY/NJ/PA areas. He also sometimes seems clueless about items or foods he's not used to. Like today in West Virginia, in a diner, he pointed to a confection and asked the waitress what it was. She was clearly shocked and perplexed by his question, so I quickly answered "peanut butter fudge". True. He had no idea. Also, the waitress looked relieved that I answered.
As a follow up to the above, I will likely be in that same position when we get to Czech Republic.
