So, about a year ago now, when I was in an IOP, it was right after new years and they had us do this exercise. I thought I might share it here because it helped me greatly, and I deeply prefer it over new years resolutions (though I appreciate those too! No shame on people who use them).

Basically you start out by writing.... "(last year) was the year of (blank)" -- In as
a concise and all encompassing fashion as you possibly can.

EXAMPLE: I did this at the start of 2020, and so my first sentence was, "2019 was the year of destruction." I wrote this for various personal reasons, but anyway it summed up the year for me pretty well.

Next you write... "(this year) will be the year of (Blank)" -- again, as concise and all encompassing as you can. Here, you try and capture your intent for the year, what you'd like to see happen for yourself.

EXAMPLE: Mine for 2020 was, "2020 will be the year of rebirth and connection" -- And it sure was, for me.

I still haven't done this for 2021, so I figured I'd do it here with everyone, to motivate myself and hopefully help some people get hopeful for the upcoming months.

Here we go... Mine is:

2020 was the year of isolation and release.
2021 will be the year of self-compassion and self-knowing.

SO... if anyone wants to join me, that'd be lovely! Just follow the above format (I'll also write a copy-paste version below) and share your intent for the upcoming year! It's okay if you'd rather do it on your own, just let me know if it helps. <3

COPY-PASTE:
2020 was the year of:

2021 will be the year of:
