I've tried tapering off of Effexor, which is almost essentially the same active ingredient of the medicine.
I would say to go as slow as possible. Every time I tried to get off of Effexor, I would get headaches, brain zaps, sweats, etc. It was probably because I tried to go off too fast.
Everyone's different but for me it was nearly impossible to get off of Effexor.
Also make sure you have someone who's willing to support you in the process - that is what I lacked before when trying to go off of meds, and I think it would have been crucial if I were to go off or down on meds in the future. I.e., a supportive psychiatrist or doctor.
