This just my opinion- it doesnt have to be anyone elses- Valentines day is silly. it is a silly "holiday" that has dark origions and was steeped in religion until the 19th century or so when it became "the fashion" to start sending gifts. Once the greeting card/gift companies got in on it it became even more silly. Think about it. Do you want to be remembered on a preset day that everyone celebrates? Or would you prefer surprise thoughtfulness another day when you need a pick me up or when you are not expecting it? Would you rather insincere wishes on a hallmark holiday or something meaningful on a saturday? I've always believed that valentines day is mostly for young dating couples. I am married and I told my husband long ago that it was silly and I do not want him spending money on me and that if he felt really compelled to write me a letter. I think once your married your anniversery is what is important. I think even long term dating couples may feel this way too. When I had BF's in HS and college I thought V-day was the most important relationship day in the whole year. I think it was age appropriate of me to see it this way.
