Of course it does. At the most basic level, employment is based more on who you know rather than what you know - and who admits to knowing you. The more people lie about you, the less people want to associate with you, because they don't question the lies. They believe what they're told by the first person who tells them that doesn't conflict with what they've already been told. And the liars always speak first.


I have problems getting employed and being paid the average rate for my skill level precisely because of preexisting social networks that I'm not allowed into, because of all the lies.
