Thank you, both of you, for your words and advice. I am grateful. I've been reading that trying to stop thinking about something can in fact have the opposite affect, from what I have read it can cause the exact thoughts you are trying to stop, resulting in the neural pathways for that thought being bolstered. It seems like it is analogous to a feedback loop of sorts.
I think I'm going to go see somebody to develop some skills to cope.
