A person betrayed me recently, talked behind my back and reported me to persons that I never should have been reported too. (Of course the persons who received the complaint had nothing to say, because there was nothing to complain about). I was able to not fall into depression, but anxiety destroyed some of my days. To do such an ugly "thing" is rotten, even if one has a mental disorder!
Let me be clear: MENTAL ILLNESS IS NOT AN EXCUSE TO DO WRONG TO OTHER PEOPLE!
If one suffers from some kind of mental illness that distorts one's thinking and can hurt other people or betray one's friends when in that condition,
one has to bring it to therapy and work hard on learning how to recognize the feelings/thoughts that make one do such evil "thing"s. One has to remind oneself often that one has this tendency to behave in certain not helpful ways. Without reminders it can happen again.
At least one has to apologize if one has fallen into the trap again. Such behavior can end in the consequences that one lose good friends.
I'm sure that most of you have your moral in order. Still I find it appropriate to post a link about moral. We can all need to think through our ethics from time to time.
