I am home from the dentist now. Just about 2 hours after I got there. Now I have to wait a bit less than 2 hours to be able to have anything hot because I got a flouride treatment. I have to let that sit for a bit- but I AM allowed to eat as long as I brush my teeth right after. I think I'll just wait. And that wasn't covered. Only cost $25 though. And I was told AGAIN- different dentist office- after 3 years or something thing I need crowns! I skipped it last time because it was very expensive, but they said they were having them for half off. I dunno if I believe that because although the paper says something to the effect of half off, its actually $200 more than what the other dentist quoted me three years ago. I think.
Anyway, they said I need them on my top front two teeth (#'s 8 and 9 I think) and of course my insurance doesn't cover it. They'd rather let me tooth fall out and/or have to be pulled. That's what scared me into it: I don't want a missing front top tooth! My sister has that same one missing and she got a fake tooth partial to hide it, but those are very expensive, too. I'd rather not lose my tooth, even though I think they shave them down to put the crowns on? So they said BOTH the front to two teeth need crowns. One is chipped and worn away where I can feel where 1/4 of it is missing and the other one got chipped when I was a kid and the fix has been slowly wearing away since 1982 even though they refilled it with this seemingly temporary stuff.
Plus I need to stop grinding my teeth. They said they could see evidence that I do. I wear a bite splint at night. I don't know what to do about daytime grinding. It's such a bad habit. Plus they said I brush my teeth too hard! That there are "waves" in some of my teeth because I brush too hard- even with a "soft" toothbrush! She said to brush with my opposite hand and that will help. They gave me another soft toothbrush and some mouthwash and toothpaste.
That money that the crowns will cost was supposed to go toward Disney World! But I don't want missing teeth. I'll just have to save gradually for Disney World. Plus I just bought the car! UGH. My mom is really gung-ho for another big family WDW trip. She will not be happy that I'm spending my stimulus on my teeth!
Is this a hypomanic purchase? Am I being silly or stupid about it? Is it an impulse buy??

Honestly this sounds like the most responsible thing you could do.
