Same here. When I was in high school I worked 20 hours a week during the school year & 60 hours a week during summers so I could afford to maintain a 10-year-old beater I bought, & pay for insurance & gas. Detroit is the Motor City, though; if you didn't have a car, you weren't getting around. As a side note, backseats back then were spacious! I spent many a night in the back of of that beast with my dates!
