I’m not sure how old I am 2-3 before I had the measles and lost my hearing. We were up north on the old farm my father half owned with his brother for hunting. But it was summer. I was standing in the doorway of the door to the cellar. Mostly what I remember is the smells and sounds. The cellar was damp, earthy and cool. Very inviting. I don’t recall if I went down or stayed in the door it’s a very fleeting memory. I do remember clearly the sound of crickets.
