I'm disappointed to learn that happens in Canada, too. I'm very sorry you can't afford a quality therapist; that's important. For some reason I thought your national health plan was more comprehensive.
When I lived in Germany everything was covered by national insurance. Payroll taxes were higher, but the sense of security was worth it, IMO. Daycare & eldercare were also subsidized by the government -- not 100%, but the financial burdens one bears for these necessities in the States are ridiculous.
I'm glad you had a nice walk with your dog. Look at making it to the river as progress, whatever.
