While I'm not sure I can isolate a lone instance of an adult misleading me, I vividly remember being awakened to the fact that life isn't fair -- & adults are generally big on stressing "fairness." I went to a poor public school in Detroit from kindergarten to eighth grade; I received straight A's all the way through DPS. Because of my grades, I was given a full scholarship to a small private school in a wealthy suburb. I soon discovered that I lagged at least two years behind students who had attended lower & middle school at that academy. What a kick in the head that was! I really had to struggle just to stay afloat in high school. I'm grateful that I received a good education, but it greatly affected me where my anxiety & self-esteem were concerned. I know...Boo-Hoo...

Other than your mental illness (which is a HUGE hurdle), what is the greatest obstacle you've ever overcome?
