I have a family member in the US that's barely over 18 years old and completely healthy and already got vaccinated. Meanwhile there are multiple elderly family members around at serious that also got vaccinated, so what's the problem? that around here most of the vaccines are of the far less effective Chinese one, the others being a relatively small number of the better ones that have been delivered from Europe. Why is that? because Europe, as well as China, India, South Korea and basically almost everyone where vaccines are made have been allowing the export of some of their production, except for the US of course, so the doses purchased of the better, Western developed vaccines have been delayed until everyone in the US gets theirs.

That's just the reality of the world but it's been really bringing me down how every single article I come across mentioning the issue just seems to be overwhelmingly filled with Americans being smug, uncaring or outright malicious about it. I find it specially telling how many make fun of the EU because they haven't done the same thing. And this just wasn't one comment section or two, it must be at least a couple dozens, all exactly the same.

Again, I understand that's just the reality of the world, some lives are just worth a whole lot more than others. But the absolute lack of any empathy is just so astonishing to me, a whole lot more people are going to die world wide to save comparatively few Americans and so they can go back to partying without risk in a couple of months. Is it so hard just to be grateful and not so cruel about it? its not even like those doses will be donations, they have all been bought.

Anyway, there's no point in falling into anger or despair, one more time that's just the reality of the world as I've always known it. I suppose just seeing it manifest so clearly is just specially difficult. Really brings down what little faith I had in humanity as it is.
