I love dogs, too, @~Christina. Dogs have always been a huge part of my life; at one time I had five at the same time. I'm down to one now. We most always spend more time with our dogs than we do with close relatives, so it's not surprising that we fear losing them in the end. I've been through the hip dysplasia & joint medication thing, so I know what it's like. My takeaway from your day is that Dexter & Sirius had a wonderful time revisiting their youth. Even if it was a terrible day for you & your husband, be happy for the dogs.

@Soupe du jour...Dishwashers weren't much of "a thing" in Gemany due the relative scarcity (& cost) of clean tapwater -- something we take for granted in most of the USA. Maybe your husband is getting used to living without one? Emptying a dishwasher is far easier than going through the process of washing, drying & putting dishes away. I'm not making excuses for him, but humans are creatures of habit. Anyways, I'm glad you had a good night's sleep without any physical symptoms.
