In the U.S., we call them government holidays, and my therapists worked most of those except perhaps the ones around the more religious holidays like Christmas and Easter. But Columbus Day or President's Day and the like weren't really days they would take off. In fact, most businesses and many schools go on as usual on many of the government holidays here.
