I know cats do like to go outside, but I agree it can be dangerous. My old cat once came home with a huge rip in his belly. Even where I live now I've heard cat fights a few times. Even raccoons can be a danger to them. And of course traffic. Also, as a bird lover, I know how dangerous cats can be to them. The danger goes both ways.
I will say that back during my road trip in the US I saw a woman and man trying to walk their cat on a leash. That cat was NOT happy and made them know that. I had to laugh.
I love and "get" cats, and would have had one if my husband was more willing. Though I've loved my pet birds, dearly, cats are a better fit for me.
