TJean I will try both techniques if I am having a hard time getting started. Like if I am writing a report, I might decide to write a certain section, write a certain # of words, or write for a certain amount of time. For cleaning, I might set a goal to clear out a certain area or clean for X amount of time. Sometimes I will set a timer for five minutes and see how many items I can put away, like a game. And if I am really resisting work, I will set the bar very, very low: spend five minutes on a task (which often really does turn into 30) or pick up just one thing.
