I read about your Health Minister @Discombobulated. Here our President went to the funeral of his uncle, who died of COVID. There were more people than allowed and they opened the coffin, which is also not permitted. He also took maskless selfies with the 3 people that still support him. I think he had to pay a fine for that one. As always, with the powerful, it's do as I say, not as I do.


If you believe the numbers, we are seeing some progress. However, there was another long weekend with people traveling. That always leads to a later spike. And, they announced the easing of restrictions in another 8 municipalities (not mine) as of Thursday. Again, "pandemic fatigue" was cited for most of them. The quarantine restrictions are never very useful, but numbers do tend to go up once they are released.

Between all that and Delta, I am feeling like you. Really concerned about what is to come. Who knows how many woman the first Delta woman infected and now they have detected a second case in a recent arrival. They say he and others from the flight that tested positive are in isolation. I guess the other samples have yet to be sequenced to see if they are Delta too. But, that was the original story the last time and it was a lie.


At least they are talking about better vaccines and a third dose for Sinovac recipients, but those new contracts need to be finalized and the vaccines need to arrive. It probably will be a few months until it becomes reality and we are in winter. I just read that the Dominican Republic is also analyzing another dose for Sinovac recipients. That is the main vaccine being used there too.
