Being a former cosmetologist I can tell you that if this girl did just graduate.. she was probably nervous. BUT they also should have done training on the floor at whatever school she went to. If they didnt that is very poor training.
Second of all.. I've learned that most cosmetologists that work at places such as great clips, Regis Salons( and I did work there for 2 yrs) Are usually beginners in the field. And basically you do get what you pay for at those places. Its always your best interest to go to an independent salon. You will get your more experienced cosmetologists there. I worked for one for 10 yrs before I had to quit due to physical problems.
Another tip... pictures.. bring pictures. When in doubt of how to explain things or in making sure of what you want in a haircut, color, perm... bring a picture to talk it over with your cosmetologist. And I know sometimes we could be pushy when selling product too, but really we are advising you the best for your hair type and what style you want. Even some " choppy" haircuts can be tamed with some smoothing creme. Myself.. I like " choppy" . It goes with my personality I think lol. I like being stylish, not too prude looking lol, unpredictable, and fun. Thats what " choppy" is to me . I'm always up for trying new things with my hair. Except the exremee stuff.. like green, bright reds and purples and pinks and blues lol. I do have a bit of a hard time with that stuff. But for younger people.. Why not?!?! I do think its a fun and creative route to go if you like that sort of thing.
Ohhh and Tim.. if I could.. I'd give you half of what I got on my head... LOL. Maybe Orange Blossoms mom will loan you some Miracle Grow?
