The thing with asking for a sooner appointment is he might not even have anything until, say, next week depending on how booked up his schedule tends to be. So maybe it would help if you just asked if he had something for early next week, for example? Or maybe this Friday (or the weekend, if he sees clients then), to give yourself a bit of time, but also to have something on the books sooner?
