My new pdoc had me fill out the Burns Anxiety Inventory. You've no doubt heard of it, but if not, there are questions about anxious feelings, anxious thoughts, and physical symptoms. You're supposed to rate each question according to how the problem has bothered you in the past week. The end of the quiz says that you should take action to protect yourself if your rating is above mild anxiety.

The sum of my answers supposedly indicates that I have mild anxiety. Mild! Mild! What I've been experiencing doesn't feel mild. It feels severe enough that I've wanted to die.

How much weight do doctors give these quizzes? I see the new doc next week and I'll explain my symptoms then.

What has been your experience with this quiz?
