Holy crap!!! That sounds horrible. I'm so sorry you had that experience. Her saying "well, if you are absolutely terrified then maybe it is best if you leave now" I am just beyond words at that. I mean, it's good she didn't try to string you along if her style won't work for you but for pete's sake she should not have said it like THAT.
