I pretty much did that & then I totally limit those that show up in my life to as little interface as possible.
I found I was like a glass that was filling up with water (toxins). Living around it 24/7, I filled to overflowing. When I eliminated those people out of my life, my glass continued to get more empty (we can call it evaporation) so now when I run into those kinds of people I am not at overflow level so I have a little more tolerance.....but I also notice when they start filling up my glass again even not being around them 24/7 (so it fills slower) I find my tolerance goes down & I totally limit or remove them from my life ASAP. I find when I have people like that who have caused me to have legal action against them, putting all interface in the hands of a lawyer helps. I still get frustrated & irritated but that distance of not having to be the one to deal directly with them is very helpful at not filling my glass up as quickly as otherwise & hope the legal action wraps up before it does.
Personally, living alone on my peaceful little farm surrounded by nature gives me a peaceful time throughout the day to distance & actually allow any toxic crap from getting to me & I do remove anyone who invades my space or I make their lives so miserable they choose to not be around me
