I would guess that one week longer won't make a diffrence, especially if it's doctor's orders. My guess is that they can't ask specifics about surgeries. I can see if you get close to someone after working there a while and they ask what the surgery is. But this seems like it might be legally wrong to ask. I'm not 100% sure, I just know that during interview questions, they can't legally ask you what kind of medical issue you had, if that's your reason for leaving a job, for instance. This seems along the same lines. Anyone else want to chime in?
