I'm one of those people who likes to mark moments. One each "anniversary" I've given my therapist a card and something meaningful to the work we've done. Once it was "pandora's box" and once a spiral wind chime because he has this great speech about how therapy is a spiral because we circle around and around the same things over and over again.

I'm coming up on 5 years - and I haven't figured out the right thing yet. But I know we will stop for a session from the work we are doing and reflect together on the things that have worked and those that still need work. I think these are very special sessions and help cement the relationship. And I think it is just as important for the therapist to reflect on the work too - it isn't just one-sided.

I hope you let us know how the celebration goes.
