@Discombobulated What a relief your relative is getting better!

I hope South America gets to enjoy a peaceful and hopeful spring. It's hard to find a rhyme or reason to this. The vaccination rates are so location dependent in the US - the state CDC shows in my zip code that 99% of people over 18 are vaccinated (which sounds too high, tbh). Using US CDC data for the county, 89% over 18 have received at least one shot, 85% two. But we have more positive cases now than last year!


I wish they reported more on breakthroughs. It seems like they are not tracking that on purpose. Not a great way to build trust with the public.

Schools have been open less than a week and several are already closing due to Covid. Another depressing statistic making the local social media rounds is that we had more drug overdose deaths last year than Covid deaths and we are on track for the same this year as well. I don't know, would it be better to stop reading about Covid? Maybe it is feeding anxiety and negative thinking.
