I've taken Caplyta. I started it last year, and it worked extremely well for me (probably the best of any antipsychotic I've ever taken), but after several months, things started to go south. I became more and more irritable, mean, and snappy at people, especially close family and friends. It got to a point after almost a year of taking it to where I absolutely couldn't stand myself for how I was behaving with people. I had to stop taking it.
I've really not heard a whole lot about others' experience with this medicine. I'm really the only person I know of who has ever taken it. I had an inpatient nurse practitioner say that she has seen more people try and fail Caplyta than any antipsychotic she has seen, but then again, she was an insufferable know-it-all and told me that Geodon "couldn't possibly cause akathisia" and that she has "never seen anyone get akathisia from Geodon before." Yeah, okay lady.
But anywho. That's my experience. It's one of the newest antipsychotics on the market. There's a "newer" antipsychotic, Lybalvi, which actually isn't entirely new... It combines olanzapine (Zyprexa) with a new opioid antagonist compound, samidorphan, which is supposed to mitigate a whole lot of the weight gain that Zyprexa tends to cause.
What is your diagnosis? What other meds have you tried?
